I was sitting in the mall food court when my eldest looked over at me and thoughtfully said,
"What era will it be when all the people are gone?"
"What do you mean? Do you mean when all the people are dead. Like the dinosaurs?"
"Yeah, what will it be like then. Will we start all over again?"
"No, that kind of time is not cyclical but like when everyday there is a day and a night but everyday is a different day not the same as the one before."
"Oh, but what will it be like?"
"Mommy cannot predict the future."
"Oh. Are we going to get ice cream now?"
"No. Eat your french fries."
She stared off again into the crowds.
I wonder if she was hoping that perhaps the dinosaurs would reappear?
